Industrial Intervention in Ferrol - Turning global goals into everyday actions

Back in January, an industrial intervention was held at CT premises in Ferrol. CT and CETMAR developed a 3-session pilot experience regarding integrating SDG in the professional development where 13 people were piloted.

After a brief introduction of the GREEN project, some theoretical and practical exercises were put on the table:

  • What do we understand for “sustainability”.
  • What SDGs are.
  • From theory to MY job: proposing measures to integrate SGDs into our professional life.
  • Individual ecological footprint calculation & debate on results.
  • Resources management & circular economy (theory & debate).

These all lead to productive discussions on key topics related to sustainability, SGDs and their relevance. The main activity was the GoGoals game, through which the piloted people went across all the SDGs, having to debate what measures they could propose to be carried out in their daily professional life. The game is intended to raise the question: What can WE do in our daily professional life to contribute to SDGs.

The main results of this dynamic are the following:

  • 2 teams of 5 people.
  • Only 45 minutes of game.
  • 51 proposed measures to be integrated into the everyday functioning of the office.

The pilots successfully fostered awareness and provided keys to individually and collectively implement measures to help reach SDGs from an engineering office. Participants, on their side, left with a deeper understanding of the importance of green skills and practical tools to contribute to reducing environmental impacts, and showed both knowledge and real interest in the topics and the contributions they can make. Plus, each one of them signed a commitment with themselves for the future, the degree of compliance will be assessed in the coming months.
