Train the Trainers: Event in Nicosia
The GREEN VET Network, funded by Erasmus+, organized a successful 2-day “Train the Trainers”
event in Nicosia, Cyprus, hosted by the University of Cyprus from May 21st to 22nd, 2024.
After launching an open call for organizations to apply for in-person training in Cyprus,
the project consortium selected five European educational providers to share best practices
and tools for implementing training activities in VET and industrial contexts.
Our five selected finalists are:
- Universidade da Coruña, from Spain
- ISQ, from Portugal
- ATEC, From Portugal
- Thematic S.A.E.K. Egaleo, from Greece
- AMbitious powered by toolcraft from Germany
Additionally, CIFP Ferrolterra, from Spain, invited by our partner CETMAR, also
participated, meeting the selection criteria. During this immersive capacity-building
workshop, the GREEN trainer's methodology and
curriculum framework for embedding GREEN skills into practices were presented and discussed.
The training began with an analysis of current trainer’s practices, tools, and methods that
could be adapted to a greener approach.
Both days of training included an overview of various teaching approaches, a summary of
GREEN findings, and discussions on integrating GREEN skills into curricula for defense,
automotive, additive manufacturing, energy, and maritime sectors. Participants shared best
practices and tools, presenting tested examples of successful green practices in VET and
industry training activities.
What’s Next in the GREEN Vet Network?
• The GREEN VET Network will pilot training programs for green competence units within
sectoral qualification courses. This involves testing the "Train the Trainers" approach and
assessing various methods and practices in each sector. Trainers will exchange pedagogical
and technical support to meet standards required to become a green education center.
Organizations that meet these standards will be awarded a green label through remote audits,
helping VET organizations comply with the agreed standards.
