Green the Greener European VET Network

International Conference on VET held in Copenhagen

The GREEN project was proudly showcased during the International Conference on Vocational Education and Training (ICVET-25) held in Copenhagen on 11–12 March 2025. This mid-term conference marked an important milestone for the project, offering a platform to present key achievements and exchange ideas with international experts and stakeholders in VET and sustainability.

Launched in December 2022 and co-funded by the European Union, GREEN – Greener European VET Network brings together nine partners from education and industry across six countries. The project’s mission is to support the global green transition by embedding sustainability into vocational education and workforce development.

A major highlight presented at the conference was the launch of the Green VET Network in May 2024 — the first European network dedicated to promoting sustainability among VET providers. The network encourages institutions to align with the Green VET Standards and apply for the GREEN VET Stamp, a recognition awarded to those who meet the defined sustainability criteria.

The project focuses on six strategic industrial sectorsadditive manufacturing, automotive, batteries, defense, energy, and maritime — identifying essential green skills for each and integrating them into curricula and teacher training. It also emphasises green thinking as a transversal competence relevant across all industries.

The event reaffirmed GREEN's commitment to bridging education and industry and building a Europe-wide community to lead in sustainable innovation, training, and policy. The Green VET Network continues to grow as a collaborative hub for education providers, policymakers, and businesses working towards a greener, more resilient future.
